Directions of Travel, Hubs and Road Maps

.....After the Arts Sector gathering at Robert Burns Centre, Dumfries..23.11.11

There seemed to be a general consensus of approval (nae wonderment!) for the speed and commitment of the follow-through from the Dalbeattie consultation event. I'll not attempt to summarise what was presented.... as the aim of the session was to be an open discussion in response to an outline organisational structure that the folk from DGC had developed collaboratively with Creative Scotland.

The proposal appeared a direct response for the desire expressed at Dalbeattie for a democratic and inclusive structure that genuinely represented the geography of the region and gave clear points of contact to the arts in D+G for national organisations and partners such as Health/Wellbeing, Tourism, Environment etc.

The next step is for 5 initial 'hub' meetings to be held for each for the arts sectors working in Annandale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtown and fifth for those working with a regional remit. These are planned for early in the new year. Those present yesterday signed up with the relevant area officers - but the intent is to open the invitation to everyone.

Rebecca Coggins is point of contact for the overall project within the Council and can be contacted on  Rebecca.Coggins@dumgal.gov.uk. Rebecca will be able to direct people to the convenor of the right hub meeting in January.
